Art of cloning websites

The way most webmasters make money is via link sales, banner sales, affiliate links, in post links, and pay per click ads. In order to make money, people need traffic to their sites. Some sites get really popular and get tons of traffic with them even advertising. So what many poker affiliates do is clone sites or scripts. Cloning is done in every business, whether its TV shows, movies, music, and restaurants. Take Taco Bell for instance, they took the Greek gyro and cloned it to fit their menu. They called pita bread “texas toast” or some crap like that, added a southwestern sauce, and meat like gyro meat, and called it a Chalupa. Movie producers recently released a movie called “Street Kings“, this is a clone of “Training Day“. Porn webmasters took Youtube and cloned it to create “Pornotube.com”. The list goes on and on.

What you have to do is take a site and not make an exact copy, but do a new twist on it. I took Wikipedia and cloned it to create “Wikipokerpedia”. The problem is that I don’t have enough time and money to create the content that Wikipedia.com has. So I’m going to go off in tangents that wont happen on Wikipedia. In order to get it to have traffic, I have to have content that they don’t have. To do this I’m going to have to create some sort of widget or tool. I really don’t have money to do that right now, so I’m going to have to sell some ads on it to generate income. I was the first poker site to clone “myspace.com” with “propokerspace.com”. I was the 3rd poker social network and the first myspace clone in the poker business.

What I’m trying to do next is beyond anything that exists right now, and could be worth several million when I’m finished and will only cost 10k to create. It involves the restaurant business and not being a poker affiliate. Hopefully I will sell some top poker domains I have and be able to fund it before Google does it. And even if I do it right away, somebody will still clone it right away!

Outsource your programming for less.
