Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

I am slowly but surely becoming an expert in this field. You really can’t go to school to learn this, because it all depends on what Google feels like doing with their algorithmic features from month to month or week to week. You are totally at the mercy of Google and can be banned at any time for using “Black Hat SEO” techniques.

With-in only 3 days of posting an image on my site Mypokertube.com, I was number two under the term “Harris Grill“. I am now in position 30 for term “Poker Affiliates” for my site Poker Affiliates and number 1 in MSN search! I tend to work in the “Grey Hat SEO” area that is neither Dark Hat Seo nor White Hat. I never use grey hat in my main sites as to not get banned. Terms like “Paris Hilton” are much more difficult to get to top of the searches because of the number of competing sites. So I tend to use terms that and phrases that are searched 20,000 times a month rather than 2 million… I do this to avoid competing with high page ranked news sites….. What’s really amazing is that I’m getting ranked at top of Google with sites that are not even Page Rank 1!
