1.) Buy a domain with text you want to rank in your domain name.

It is very important to use proper SEO techniques to optimize your site for Google. The reason for this is to get free traffic from Google. Basically, if you don’t get indexed or rank high in Google searches, you will have to pay for traffic to be directed to your poker site.

Buy a domain with the text in you domain. For example, if you want to be ranked for term Poker, you should have the word poker in your domain. Or if you want to be ranked for term Rake Back - you should have word rake or rake back in your domain name. This gives your site an algorithmic relevancy in Google and other search engines. Although dashes look bad and are less valuable, they also rank high if the have exact terms in the name.

2.) Buy short domains. Google likes short domains like poker.com. If you buy a domain like
guideonhowtoplayonlinepoker.com your site is not going to get ranked. Howtoplaypoker.com is still long but may get ranked. Playpoker.com would be much better domain and more vauable. I’m sure that’s taken so don’t bother looking.

3.) If you rank for term “pokerblog” try not to link to other sites for same term because you may be giving the other site authority on the term pushing them up and your site down.

4.) Do not sell links. Google may blackball your poker site if it thinks you have sold links or are buying them.
